Offizielles Statement: With great remorse, we have come to the conclusion that Rakim’s planned European tour in May and June is no longer a feasible possibility for us and have decided to cancel the trip over. There are a number of reasons for this (travel logistics, medical complications, personal obligations…. and to be quite blunt, mental and physical exhaustion after a year in which Rakim performed at over 120 events). Each of these as a stand alone may not be a sufficient explanation to pull out of the tour, but cumulatively they add up… and I am not confident that we would be able to pull off 27+ shows in the time frame allotted and keep the standard of performance at the level Rakim’s fans expect and deserve. In the US, we have been doing short 2-4 show runs once a month and even these have proved difficult. We have discussed modifying the tour to either reduce the number of dates or extending the trip to space things out, but from a financial and logistical standpoint, it does not work and would ultimately shortchange some of the promoters and fans anyway.

Straight outta Long Island, New York, kommt Rakim nach Heidelberg. Mit seinen hypnotischen Beats und legendären Rhymes beweist er einmal mehr, dass er zu Recht als einer der größten MCs aller Zeiten gefeiert wird. Rakim ist für seine bahnbrechende Verwendung von Reimen in der Mitte von Zeilen und seine Fähigkeit bekannt, komplexe Gedanken über Religion, Wissenschaft und Politik in seine Texte zu integrieren.

Rakim’s Beats und Rhymes sind nicht nur Musik – sie sind eine Lebensweise, eine Hymne für diejenigen, die die Kultur des Hip Hop leben und lieben. Die Hip Hop-Welt kann sich also freuen, denn eine wahre Legende kehrt zurück: In diesem Jahr ist Rakim endlich auch wieder in Europa unterwegs.
